The long-running Myreque storyline in Old School Runescape has reached its definitive conclusion. Jagex has released The Blood Moon Rises, a new Grandmaster quest that transports players to Vampyrium, the ancestral home of the vampyres. This update marks the end of a narrative arc that has spanned over two decades.

To begin the quest, players must visit the Icyene Graveyard, accessible by boat from south Burgh de Rott, Meiyerditch, or Slepe. They will need to speak with Sarius Guile to start the journey. The quest requires completion of several prerequisite quests and high skill levels, including 80 Woodcutting, 78 Fishing, and 74 Slayer.

Jagex has designed the quest to be experienced at the player's own pace. While the space bar can be used to speed through dialogue, the developers recommend immersing oneself in the finale. The intended experience involves completing the quest without interruption, with suggested settings to enhance the narrative.

Completing The Blood Moon Rises grants access to several new activities and rewards. These include Leechfin Fishing, a new method requiring 78 Fishing that offers an active training alternative without tick manipulation. Players can choose between focusing on Fishing XP or gathering Blood vials. Bloodwood Woodcutting, requiring 77 Woodcutting, provides a new way to train the skill while collecting Bloodwood sap. The activity can compete with top-end methods under optimized play.

Venators are new Slayer creatures requiring 74 Slayer. They offer a more dangerous approach to Vampyre tasks in Vampyrium, with higher Blood shard drop rates. The Maggot King is a repeatable solo boss encounter that drops new rewards, including the Crimson kisten weapon and the Elder venator fang used to create the Necklace of Rupture, a best-in-slot Ranged amulet upgrade. A new pet is also available, with players able to sacrifice loot for a better chance at hatching the Maggot King pet.

Seeker arrows act as an upgrade layer for standard arrows, allowing existing ammunition to remain relevant. The update also includes a warning about phishing attempts, reminding players to only download content from official Jagex domains.
