Dune: Awakening gets its next free expansion, Blood and Ice, on December 1 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox. Funcom announced it alongside a cosmetics store, bigger in-game events and dates for offline single-player and full cross-play. The studio says more than one million new players have joined since the console launch.
The Polar Sink
Blood and Ice takes survival to the frozen north of Arrakis. The new map, the Polar Sink, turns the usual problem around: players have to stay warm rather than cool, and desert gear won't be enough.
The map has two biomes. First comes the tundra, where wealthy water shipper families run lavish strongholds and don't welcome outsiders. Beyond it lies the heavily guarded ice cap, and getting inside is one of the main goals. Ice harvested there cools base equipment to speed up production.
- Progression: around 35 hours of new content
- Gear: new survival equipment made from resources found only in the Polar Sink
- Upgrades: new vehicle modules, augments and specialization traits
Cosmetics Store and Events
A new store will sell optional outfits, vehicle variants and base customization to help pay for free updates. It opens with a rotating selection that includes looks from the Dune films, timed with Dune: Part Three reaching cinemas in December. Funcom plans to make the full catalogue available at all times later.

The current event, The Scourge, has players investigating a disease spreading across Arrakis. Water Crisis follows shortly after Blood and Ice, with a fight over scarce water. The expansion also adds an Events tab to the main menu, and every event works in single-player and multiplayer.
