World of Warcraft: Forever goes live worldwide on November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST, which is 23:00 UTC. Blizzard's new permanent version of WoW sits alongside modern and Classic WoW. It is set after the events of Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core, with a journey to level 60 across the original continents.

New Zones and the Skyborne

Forever adds more than 1,000 new quests across levels 1 to 60, with new destinations including Mount Hyjal, Shen'dralas, the Riverglades and Zephras Isle. The Riverglades alone has more than 150 new quests for the mid-30s to mid-40s.

Zephras Isle is the level 1 to 12 starting zone for the Skyborne, a new playable race. Horde-aligned Windshapers can become Shaman, and Alliance-aligned High-Order Skyborne can become Mages. Other new combinations include Orc Mages, Troll Warlocks, Undead Paladins, Human Hunters, Gnome Priests and Dwarf Shamans.

Choices at First Login

The first login asks for an Experience Preset. Classic starts with standard-definition models and fewer modern features, with quest objective markers, one-bag and transmog turned off. Enhanced starts with high-definition models and those features on. Blizzard suggests Enhanced for anyone unsure, and every setting can be changed later in the Options menu.

Instead of a realm, players then pick a ruleset: Normal, PvP, Roleplay or Roleplay PvP. A Hardcore ruleset will arrive sometime after launch.

  • Raids: on December 9, level 60 players can enter Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair.
  • Battleground: the Darkspear Islands, a new 15 versus 15 battleground off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh.
  • New systems: shared campsites built from the Cooking profession's Basic Campfire, and the account-wide Legacy System for horizontal progression.
