The Midsummer Fire Festival has returned to World Of Warcraft, bringing seasonal activities, new rewards, and a fresh perspective on Azeroth's hottest holiday. Running from June 21 to July 5, the event invites players to honor the flames across Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms, and beyond.

New Aerial Quests Take Flight
A major highlight for the Midnight expansion is the introduction of aerial quests. These new adventures send champions soaring across both major continents, guided by a Sunwalker and a Wildhammer storyteller. Unlike traditional Dragonriding races, these quests focus on narrative and exploration rather than precision flying. Players glide through drifting blossoms while learning snippets of Azeroth's history.
The introductory quest is available in Orgrimmar or Stormwind. After completing the tutorial, players can access daily quests that return throughout the event. A special challenge in Silvermoon extends the journey further.
- Aerial Quests: Northern Kalimdor, Southern Kalimdor, Northern Eastern Kingdoms, Southern Eastern Kingdoms
- Rewards: 50 Burning Blossoms (first completion), 15 Burning Blossoms (repeats)
- Daily Quests: Reignite the Skies (Stormwind/Orgrimmar), Ignite the Skies (Silvermoon)
Frost Lord Ahune Returns
A new quest, "The Tale of the Frost Lord," provides a streamlined path to the Ahune encounter. This breadcrumb quest guides players from major cities or within the Slave Pens dungeon. First-time completions reward 15 Burning Blossoms, with 5 for subsequent runs.
Ahune also has a chance to drop the new Sun Festival's Painted Roc mount. This elusive summer roc has inspired legends among the tauren, who view these creatures as living manifestations of An'she's fire.
New Faction Achievements and Cosmetic Items
Players can earn two new faction achievements by honoring flames in Midnight zones: Flame Warden of Midnight (Alliance) and Flame Keeper of Midnight (Horde). These require visiting bonfires in Eversong Woods, Zul'Aman, Harandar, Voidstorm, and Silvermoon City.
New cosmetic items are available from Holiday Vendors, purchasable with Burning Blossoms:
- Ensemble: Sun Festival's Flame Totems (Transmog Set)
- Sun Festival's Totemic Greataxe (Two-Hand)
- Summer Sun Blossom (Weapon Illusion)
- Sun Festival's Torchblade (One-Hand)
- Sun Festival's Totemic Edge (One-Hand)
- Sun Festival's Flamebrand (Two-Hand)
Additionally, Sun Festival's Painted cosmetic pieces can drop from Frost Lord Ahune or be purchased from vendors. These include head, waist, shoulder, chest, legs, back, and feet items.
Classic Activities and Achievements
For WoW Classic players, the Midsummer Fire Festival runs concurrently from June 21 to July 5. Activities include honoring flames, extinguishing enemy bonfires, and defeating Ahune. The event features traditional elements such as dancing around the ribbon pole for a 10% experience buff, fire juggling, and stealing flames from opposing faction capitals.
Key achievements include:
- Torch Juggler: Juggle 40 torches in 15 seconds in Dalaran
- Ice the Frost Lord: Slay Ahune in the Slave Pens
- King of the Fire Festival: Complete "A Thief's Reward"
- Burning Hot Pole Dance: Dance at the ribbon pole for 60 seconds while wearing the Midsummer set
Completing meta-achievements grants the titles Flame Keeper (Horde) or Flame Warden (Alliance).
Pets and Rewards
Several pets are available during the festival:
- Igneous Flameling: A hot stone massage companion
- Frigid Frostling: Lobs chilly snowballs at adventurers
- Spirit of Summer: Smells of warm evenings and lightning storms
- Blazing Cindercrawler: Tiny, incinerated corpses line its cage
Other rewards include summer wear, heirlooms, the Fire Eater's Hearthstone, and various festive items like the Cozy Bonfire and Brazier of Dancing Flames.
Burning Blossoms Currency
Burning Blossoms remain the primary currency for purchasing holiday items. Players earn them through quests, bonfire honoring, and defeating Ahune. Throwing Burning Blossoms into bonfires grants the "Fire Festival of Fury" buff, increasing melee and spell critical chance by 3% for one hour.
The Midsummer Fire Festival offers a wealth of activities for both retail and Classic players. With new aerial quests, updated rewards, and the return of beloved traditions, Azeroth's summer celebration continues to evolve.
